Swiss Club of Victoria

The Place for Swissness in Victoria

The Swiss Club of Victoria can look back over a century of proud tradition since its foundation in 1899. The club was established to serve generations of Swiss migrants as a place to get together, maintain a link with their country of origin and to foster and preserve the cultural and linguistic inheritance of Switzerland.

The Swiss Club and its various Interest Groups organise a variety of functions throughout the year, ranging from family picnics to glamorous balls. There is something for all ages, from the SwissKids group for pre-school children to senior members’ activities. The Club’s membership stands at around 450 with about 40% of members being of non-Swiss background.

The Swiss Club is ideally situated in the heart of Melbourne, offering excellent facilities be it in the club’s Restaurant on the first floor, for a Swiss inspired lunch or dinner, or on the Second Floor, a stylish and modern function venue, for private and corporate functions.

Does anyone know where I can buy prepackaged Swiss cheese fondue in Melbourne or online that delivers to Australia?

Thank you very much for your question, Swiss packaged cheese fondue is available at many Delis and butchers around Melbourne. To first place to look for Swiss goods is Walmas Meats & Smallgoods in Bayswater, other stores that sell Swiss goods are the Continental Butchers or the Wursthuette which are both on Glenferrie Road in Armadale.
Some of the bigger Woolworths stores like the one in Malvern also have fondue in their selection but mainly during winter time.

Hi! Where can we find Swiss flags to buy near the CBD and or Swiss gear to support our man Federer?

    • 25/01/2013 at 7:11 pm #

Unfortunately we are not aware of a shop in the city that sells Swiss gear, however there is a Swiss Smallgoods store in Bayswater called Walmas that might be able to help you out.

Hi, I was just wondering, do I have to book to get the cheese fondue?

    • 11/03/2013 at 12:41 pm #

Dear Maryanne, thank you very much for your comment. We certainly always recommend making a booking with the restaurant, but no we don’t need any prior notice to serve you our signature Swiss cheese fondue. We are looking forward to welcome you at the Swiss Club restaurant.
