Dance Group Alpenrose going to Adelaide

DancegroupWe are so proud of our Dance Group Alpenrose. They might be our oldest interest group, but the group continues to be very active and contributing to the club. Since 1949 the group has been part and supportive of the Swiss Club, giving joy to so many generations with their folk-dancing and their beautiful Trachtent! Under the leadership of their energetic and talented convenor and choreographer, Mrs Sylvia Hochuli, the group continuously work hard to improve and increase their repertoire. In early April, the group is heading to Adelaide to participate in the bi-annual Volkstanzfest, which is held in different cities around Australia, always during the Easter Weekend. Numerous German-Austrian-Swiss dancing and folklore groups from across the nation come together to dance and enjoy fellowship.

The Volkstanfest 2015 will be hosted by the Adelaide’s Bavarian dancers, the “Bund der Bayern” with events taking place at the German Club and Hahndorf and . In 2015, three dance groups visiting from Bavaria and Austria will also join the Volkstanzfest. This will be a great opportunity for all the groups to exchange and learn from each other.
